Sally906's Initial list

G'day All

Thank-you for letting me join in :)

I am keeping my list small to start (5) with as I am in a few challenges - hoping to combine most of them :)

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai
Digging to America by Anne Tyler
The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic -- and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World by Steven Johnson
The Road by Cormac McCarthy

If, as we talk about them, I think I will be interested in some of the others then I will add to my list :)

Hey Sally906. Welcome to the challenge group.

May I suggest that you add Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road' to your list? It is short, and everyone else seems to be reading it. I'm sure everyone would love your imput when we get around to discussing that one. I, in particular, felt it was the best book published last year, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out on it.

You certainly don't have to, but I thought I'd throw that out there for your consideration. :)

Hi, Sally906, and (as I said to 3M earlier) welcome to the realm of the Challenge-mad!

What a pithy, well-chosen list! I am glad to say that it has 80% of its books in common with mine, and I look forward to discussing them with you.

By the way, kookiejar, I am about a quarter of the way through "The Road" at the moment, and I can't wait for the conversation about to to get started. It is my first Cormac McCarthy.

Welcome Sally! This should be fun :0)

Pour & Kookie...
This begs the question...are we all supposed to read the same books at the same time or do you just join in on a discussion once you read the book??? Just wondering! Happy Reading!

Welcome Sally!

Kim, there is no timeline for reading; if people want to coordinate reads, that's fine...otherwise we will just have comment discussions as reviews go up and people get the books read.

I don't think there is necessarily any need to coordinate reading, unless people very much want to - after all, any overlap in reading will happen naturally over the next ten months, which hopefully won't be long enough to forget the book!

Yeah, just jump on into the conversation whenever you want to. I know we will have lots of overlap (as you can see from everyone's lists), but I'd hate for anyone to be left out of a discussion as good as I know the one for 'The Road' will be.

PoT, I look forward to reading your review.

OK - Have just ordered 'The Road' from the library - you've twisted my arm :)

I was very much ruled by what is available readily here in Australia - the only book I will need to buy is 'The Ghost Map' - Looks very interesting.
