One day at work I was bored (but we won't tell anyone else that!) So I printed off the last 10 years' lists! I love the idea guys! I'm in a million challenges right now....but maybe, just MAYBE, I can squeeze in one more!!

What a great procrastination strategy! I am always on the look-out for procrastinatory inspiration. Did you find anything particularly delightful in the past lists?

I love this idea...and since I wanted to read some of the books on this list, I joined.

My problem is that I often don't like the New York Times reviews of books! I get Bookmarks magazine, and so often, a lot of people are loving a book and the NYT is the only one panning it!! Or the NYT loves it, and everyone else (and me) hates it!

So I don't know that I'd choose my entire reading list from the NYT.. but every once in awhile, they seem to agree with the throng! Anyone else have this reaction to NYT reviews??? Where do other people get their recommendations? Does anyone else read Bookmarks or Pages?

(maybe this should have been a post)

Lisa...I used to get Pages; but apparently they are going out of business :( I also read BookMarks. I agree...I don't always agree with the NYT reviews either. I got motivated this year to read from their list because they seemed to pick some universally good books (ie: books that others were also raving about). Not sure I'll feel the same way when the 2007 list comes out!

I am coming in late this year to the challenege but really plan to start in 2008 - will there be a posting of the NYT 2007 most notable books for the upocoming year when it comes out? I am sure that is not till later in the year. I am a little embarassed to admit that while I read a lot I have not read one of the books on this list! Maybe I will try to read at least one before the end of the year - kind of a warm up for next year
